My name is Mattie, I live in Denton, TX and I'm 24. I'm transitioning from male to female, I'm looking for a place to write about my transition and what it means. I have an interest in politics, sociology and activism. I am also looking into improving my writing skills and writing out my political and social beliefs, especially from a trans woman point of view.

I'm a strong supporter of feminism, socialism and social justice. Activism and politics is my lifeblood and it is what gets me though hard times.

So some less serious stuff..........

I'm a huge NPR geek, I've listen to no other station since 2000. My favorites are This American Life (I have a huge crush on Ira Glass), Radio Lab and Priare Home Companion.

I'm not too into TV, sure I have shows that I like such as Rachel Maddow and News Hour with Jim Lehrer. For fun TV shows I like Strangers with Candy, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

I love music. Some of my favorites are Joni Mitchell, Sonic Youth and REM. I know I'm behind on the times but I'm really into Animal Collective's new album and I'm wondering why I did not pick there Sung Tongs back in 2004.

Some of favorites movies are Do The Right Thing, Hannah and Her Sisters, Spinal Tap and Blue Velvet.
